The Sea of Darkness

Claudia Comte has long since evolved from a shooting star of the Swiss art scene to an internationally sought-after artist. Transcending and combining different techniques and disciplines, Claudia Comte complements her work by juxtaposing materials, such as wood and marble, which she works on in the traditional sculptor's manner, with industrially manufactured elements.

The catalog "The Sea of Darkness" contains a flaming admonition by the U.S. marine biologist Ayana E. Johnson for the protection of the oceans, an interview with the artist Claudia Comte as well as a detailed documentation of the exhibition "The Sea of Darkness" at Kunstraum Dornbirn. Claudia Comte created an installation that immersed visitors in an artificial landscape: Wave movements on the ceiling were echoed in the arrangement of the 40 specially made sculptures.
