For years, the works of Jeppe Hein (born in Copenhagen in 1974, lives in Berlin) have been causing a sensation, be it rolling benches and moving walls in the Museum Ludwig, Cologne, splashing water curtains in the Kokerei, Essen, at the Venice Biennale or, in a Berlin gallery, an iron sphere that is held unchecked towards the walls, at best scraping along them, but otherwise shattering them viciously. For Niklas Maak and the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung," this was the "revenge of minimalism" at the time, for Hein, as subtly as few before him, injected a liberating ruckus of happenings into the frozen boxes of the fin de siècle that had just passed, into minimalism that had become design. The first monographic publication by the artist, published to accompany the exhibition at the Kunstverein Heilbronn, contains, in addition to many double- and full-page color illustrations of the spectacular works, a complete index of all works created up to 2002, as well as their functional descriptions.
